DAN BOTTS PARTICIPATES IN MEETING OF MONTREAL PROTOCOL FFVAs
Director, Environmental & Pest Management Division, Dan Botts participated
in the 18th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that
Deplete the Ozone Layer, which took place October 30 through November 3 in New
Delhi, India. The publication Earth Negotiations Bulletin reported that on the subject of critical use exemptions (CUEs) for methyl bromide, many discussions centered around issues involving existing stocks of the chemical. The publication also reported that the U.S. highlighted advantages to a multi-year approach to CUEs and that one participant had been heard in the corridors saying that ongoing bilateral discussions are putting the Methyl Bromide Technical Options Committee (MBTOC) in an awkward position, as political and technical considerations have been thrown into "a single, volatile pot." See

Rap-Up deadline, Botts was not available to comment on specifics related
to Florida uses. ALSO IN THIS WEEK'S RAP-UP (Members-Only articles are indicated in bold.) HEALTH
