SPECIALTY CROP FARM BILL ALLIANCE RECOMMENDING POLICIES TO NEW CONGRESS

The Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance is moving into the second phase of developing a new bill for introduction in the House and Senate at the beginning of the 110th Congress. The Alliance’s legislative committee has begun visiting key Capitol Hill offices to offer recommendations developed by the Alliance and H.R. 6193, the new EAT Healthy America Act in 2007.

Through this process, the Alliance will be looking at technical and policy differences in addition to new concepts it may want to consider prior the introduction of H.R. 6193. Members of the Alliance expect this process to take a couple of months, which would move introduction of the new bill into late January or early February.

As this process evolves, the Alliance will be developing a “rolling document” that will highlight any new and/or changed policy recommendations that are encountered through the process.

FFVA Producer Members with questions may contact President Mike Stuart, who co-chairs the Alliance.
