TMDL MEETING SCHEDULED

A public meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 10, 2007 to address EPA’s recently proposed Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for the Lake Okeechobee Tributaries. The workshop, to be held at the Okeechobee County Civic Center at 9:00 a.m., will include an overview of EPA’s proposed TMDLs for the region, a status report on the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s efforts to develop nutrient criteria, and an update on the Lake Okeechobee Protection Plan.

EPA's proposed limits have the potential to negatively affect growers throughout Central and Southern Florida. Growers in this region are strongly encouraged to participate in this important workshop. For further information, please contact the FFVA Government Affairs Office at (850) 521-0455.
