ISSUE 1054
The Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, Alien Labor Certification Section, recently announced that they will be conducting a prevailing wage survey of strawberry planters and pickers. It is anticipated that wage survey forms will be mailed during the week of March 21 - 25, 2005. The survey will be conducted by mail and usually takes 15 minutes to complete. The general findings of the survey are published, however, the individual survey forms and names of the companies that participated are not released.
The results of these surveys are used by the U.S. Department
of Labor for the purpose of approving or denying the employment
of H-2A foreign agricultural guest workers. The results are
also useful to the agricultural industry because they can
help determine if a company is paying the prevailing rate
to its workers. Since the individual information is kept confidential,
and because the results provide useful information, your participation
is encouraged.
