SENATE PRESIDENT STALLS AG TAX CUTS

Florida State Senate President Tom Lee has indicated he will not go along with proposed agricultural sales tax cuts unless funding can be secured for growth management issues. Lee, a Brandon developer who, as Senate president, determines which bills will go for full passage before the Senate, has said that the money is needed to pay for infrastructure to handle future development.

The ag sales tax bill, which the House has passed, would eliminate taxes on such things as farm equipment, including generators, used for the production of crops or products.

"We urge FFVA Members to contact Senator Lee's office to make their concerns heard," said Butch Calhoun, FFVA's director, Governmental Affairs. The senator can be reached at (850) 487-5072 or via email at lee.tom.web@flsenate.gov.
