FLORIDA AGENCY FOR WORKFORCE INNOVATION TO CONDUCT WAGE SURVEY

The Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, Alien Labor Certification Section, recently announced that they will be conducting a prevailing wage survey of Valencia orange, grapefruit and tangerine pickers in early May 2006. The survey will be conducted by mail or phone and usually takes 15 minutes to complete. The general findings of the survey are published, however, the individual survey forms along with the names of the companies who participated are not released.

he results of these surveys are used by the U.S. Department of Labor for the purpose of approving or denying the employment of H-2A foreign agricultural guest workers. The results are also useful to the agricultural industry for the purposes of determining whether or not a company is paying the prevailing rate to its workers. Since the individual information is kept confidential and because the results provide useful information, your participation is encouraged.
