SPECIALTY CROP FARM BILL ALLIANCE WORKING ON SENATE BILL CONCERNS

As part of its efforts to secure fair represen-tation of the specialty crop industry in the upcoming farm bill, the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance steering and legislative committees participated in a conference call April 3 to identify any “material or obvious concerns/revisions/errors” to drafted Senate bill language of the specialty crop legislation.

The committees plan to address these concerns with Senate staffers before the Senate sponsors introduce the bill after returning from their Easter break. Several suggestions were made as a result of the conference call and via email. The committees have developed a document that they believe captures all of the suggestions and will submit it to those staffers, who say they will host a conference call early this week to discuss the suggested changes in further detail.
