FLORIDA SENATE PASSES BILL ADDING LAND TO BROWARD COUNTY

The Florida Senate passed legislation May 3 approving a boundary change that would place about 2,000 acres west of Boca Raton in Palm Beach County into Broward County. An identical bill was passed April 27 by the House. The legislation now goes to the governor for his signature.

Other bills of interest to the Florida agriculture industry passed during the regular session that ended May 4 include a sales tax exemption on electricity used indirectly for the production and processing of agricultural products, and bills related to trespass on agricultural property, agritourism and property rights.
