GOVERNOR SIGNS SALES TAX EXEMPTION BILL

Gov. Charlie Crist signed into law HB1199 on May 22. This bill, sponsored by Sen. Jeff Atwater (R-North Palm Beach) and Rep. Bryan Nelson (R-Apopka), extends the sales tax exemption to include electricity indirectly used for production or processing of agricultural products on a farm.

This change would include uses such as offices and equipment shops as long as they are located on the farm. The new exemption takes effect on July 1.
