PROPOSED RULE WOULD ALLOW BLUEBERRY IMPORTS FROM URUGUAY, SOUTH AFRICA

The USDA published a proposed rule in the Federal Register June 5 that would allow blueberry imports from South Africa and Uruguay. In addition, the proposed rule would allow cold treatment for blueberries from Argentina.

As a condition of entry, the proposed rule says that blueberries imported from those countries would have to undergo cold treatment and be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the national plant protection organization of the exporting country.

Comments can be received through July 20. For additional details, access the publication online at http://www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html. Enter the words blueberry and Uruguay in the search field.
