ISSUE 1048

DISTRICT WATER USE PERMIT RENEWAL WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN FORT MYERS

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) has begun the water use permit renewal process for the Lower West Coast Region, which includes all of Lee, Collier, and Hendry Counties and portions of Charlotte and Glades Counties. In order to explain the revised rules and the process for permit renewals, a workshop has been scheduled for February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the District's Lower West Coast Service Center, 2301 McGregor Boulevard, Fort Myers.

Individual and major general water use permits for irrigation must be renewed by the dates established for each of the region's five sub-basins. Since Water Use Permits have a finite duration, they must be renewed in order to re-establish the right to use water.

More information can be found on the Water Use Permit Renewal page on the District web site, www.sfwmd.gov, or by calling the special hotline at (800) 547-2694. If you need further information, please contact the FFVA Government Affairs Office at (850) 521-0455.
