HENRY DEAN TO LEAVE SFWMD

Henry Dean, executive director of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) announced he will resign June 1.

Possible replacements are Carole Wehle, SFWMD's assistant executive director; Chip Merriam, deputy executive director; and Ernie Barnett, who is now an ecosystem projects director for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Governor Bush is expected to endorse one of the three.

The successful candidate must also win Senate approval. Henry Dean was appointed executive director of the South Florida Water Management District on July 11, 2001.
