ISSUE 1088 BRONSON HEARS DAMAGE REPORTS, AID REQUESTS Representatives from Floridas diverse agriculture sectors met with Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson Thursday (November 3) to report damage estimates from Hurricane Wilma. Bronson will use the figures when he travels to Washington, D. C. this week (November 7) to request federal aid. Some sectors, like sugarcane, have not yet been able to tally the extent of damage, but with about half the commodities reporting, estimates range up to about $1.2 billion. In addition to commodity reports, producers as well as farm labor advocates expressed the need for emergency housing for workers. FFVAs Mike Stuart, Danny Raulerson and Tony DiMare participated in Thursdays meeting in Clewiston.
