SENATE VOTES DOWN CAP ON FARM SUBSIDIES

The U.S. Senate voted down a cap on subsidies Thursday (November 3) that go to larger farms. The caps, proposed by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, would have limited support to $250,000 per married couple. That limit is now $360,000, but some organizations have successfully avoided that cap.

Grassley was successful three years ago in getting the Senate to pass the cap, but the proposal was halted last week by a procedural objection.
