ISSUE 1088
LOANS AVAILABLE FOR HURRICANE DAMAGE Emergency loans are available from both federal and state sources for producers and other small businesses suffering from hurricane damage. USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) is offering federal disaster assistance loans to eligible farmers and ranchers. Applications may be made through FSA service centers through June 30. Service centers are listed in the government pages of the phone book. A partial list available by clicking here. The Small Business Administration's Office of Disaster Assistance also has loans available through FEMA. Loans cover physical disaster and economic injury. Applications are available online or at FEMA assistance centers. In addition, the State of Florida has activated
Florida's Small Business Emergency 'Bridge Loan' Program to provide
short-term loans to businesses in counties severely impacted by
Hurricane Wilma. These short-term loans are intended to 'bridge
the gap' between the time a catastrophe hits and when a business
has secured other resources, such as future profits, payment of
insurance claims or longer-term loans. For more information, call
