ISSUE 1088 USDA TO SURVEY STORM DAMAGE TO CITRUS Inspectors from USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) begin surveying citrus-producing areas Monday (November 7) to determine the effects that Hurricane Wilma had on citrus production. They will recount fruit on sample trees, determine average fruit size and droppage, and use the findings to update its production forecast for USDA's December crop report. The monthly crop forecast is used to determine
the price of orange juice futures and wholesale crop values.
