ISSUE 1099 CAMPAIGN
WILL ENCOURAGE BIOFUEL MATERIAL PRODUCTION Florida
Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson has announced the creation of a "Farm
to Fuel" campaign designed to encourage farmers and timber harvesters in
Florida to produce biofuel material. At a news conference January 12, he quoted
a recent study that showed Florida ranked first in the nation in the availability
of biomass production area because of its farms, forests and climate. More
than 50 agricultural producers, researchers and those already in the business
of producing commercial fuel-grade ethanol and bio-diesel crops attended the "Farm
to Fuel" meeting in Tallahassee. The Florida Department of Agriculture and
Consumer Services has created a website that explains the initiative in detail,
which may be viewed through a link in the Resource
Library section at www.ffva.com. ALSO IN THIS WEEK'S RAP-UP (Members-Only articles are indicated in bold.) | |
