SWFWMD GOVERNING BOARD ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
 
On May 30, the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) elected Talmadge “Jerry” Rice to serve as chairman.
 
Mr. Rice, who was appointed to the Governing Board in March 2003, is a cattle rancher and sales/marketing consultant from Dade City. Rice previously served as Treasurer and Vice Chairman of the SWFWMD Board. Prior to his appointment to the SWFWMD Governing Board, Rice served on the Florida Citrus Commission, and was chairman of the Florida Citrus Processors Association. Rice also served as president and chief operating officer of Lykes Pasco before retiring from that position in 1998.
 
Judith “Judy” Whitehead was elected to serve as the Board’s vice chair. Ms. Whitehead is a native Floridian and owner of a residential appraisal service in Brooksville. Neil Combee, Jr. of Lakeland was elected to serve as secretary, and Jennifer Closshey of Plant City was elected to serve as treasurer.
