DAN MCCLURE PASSES AWAY

Daniel Peyton “Dan” McClure, an advocate of Florida agriculture and leader in his community, passed away Saturday (September 24) after a battle with cancer.
Mr. McClure was born in Palmetto on February 8, 1926, and was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. His father, John N. McClure, was one of Manatee County's pioneer tomato farmers and started West Coast Tomato. Mr. McClure served as president and chief operating officer of the company for many years.

Mr. McClure was past president and director of the Florida Tomato Exchange and chairman of the Florida Tomato Committee, and was a long-time Board Member of FFVA. He was a member and former director and officer of the Manatee County Farm Bureau, a member of the state and national Farm Bureau, a member and former director of the Manatee County Cattlemen's Association and a member of the state and National Cattlemen's Association.

He is survived by his wife Connie and four children: Sandra Lamme of Gainesville; Dr. Scott McClure and Mary Anne Spencer, both of Bradenton; and Daniel Carr "DC" McClure of Palmetto. He had seven grandchildren.

FFVA would like to extend its sympathies to the McClure family as well offer a salute to Mr. McClure for his extraordinary contributions.
