TO ALLOW IMPORTED NAMIBIAN GRAPES USDA's
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced in September that
it has amended its fruit and vegetable regulations to allow the importation of
fresh table grapes from Namibia into the U.S. The final rule will take effect
October 23. The
grapes must undergo cold treatment and fumigation with methyl bromide, and must
be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the national plant organization
