SOCIETY OF ST. ANDREW ASSISTS FLORIDA GROWERS

The Society of St. Andrew, a national nonprofit hunger-relief organization with operations in Florida, would like producers to know they will recover unmarketable or excess produce to distribute to the hungry – and send growers a tax write-off for the donation.

The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA) can recover any type of produce that cannot be sold for any reason.

All gleaners involved will sign a waiver releasing the Society of St. Andrew and the land owner/operator from liability.

In addition to the waiver, the Federal “Good Samaritan Food Donation Act” protects from civil or criminal liability those who donate food or allow gleaners to harvest food to donate in good faith should such donated food later cause harm to a recipient. (Liability protection is not extended to donors in instances of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.)

Donations to the Society of St. Andrew are never sold, only given to other non-profit organizations dedicated to ending hunger for the 36 million Americans that struggle every day.

For more information or to donate, please call Nicole Eastwood at (407) 650-1956 or email Nicole@ endhunger.org. Information about Society of St. Andrew’s national hunger-relief work is also available online at www.endhunger.org.
