AG IN THE CLASSROOM HANDS OUT 22 TEACHER GRANTS Florida
Agriculture in the Classroom has awarded nearly $25,000 in grants to 22 Florida
teachers to be used for agriculture-related classroom projects this school year.
The grants will reach about 6,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Teachers
will use the grants, which are designed to help educate students about the importance
of Florida agriculture, to incorporate ag concepts into science, history, language
arts and math lessons. Activities include plant tissue culture propagation, hydroponics
and earth box gardening. Florida Ag in the Classroom materials will be used to
complement the activities. Money for the teacher grants comes from sales of the agriculture specialty license plate. Florida
Ag in the Classroom is a non-profit organization charged with educating students
and teachers about the importance of Florida agriculture by providing them with
