NEW TEST MAY HELP TO DETECT CITRUS DISEASE

A new test known as TIGER, or Triangulation Identification for Genetic Evaluation of Risks, may shine a ray of hope in the fight against future threats to Florida citrus.
The test is able to detect the presence of an unknown or unidentified pathogen and reveal its closest known genetic relatives. It would not actually replace existing testing tools, but could help minimize the chance of missing some new pathogen.

The TIGER test was developed by two California companies. USDA's Foreign Disease-Weed Science Research Unit is conducting research to help refine the technique.
