NOTICE
OF DETERMINATION SPELLS OUT PURPOSES OF CONSERVATION PROGRAM
USDAs
Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) issued a Notice of Determination
in the December 22 Federal Register stating that cost-share payments made under
specific state of Florida conservation programs are primarily for the purposes
of either conserving soil and water resources or protecting and restoring the
environment.
Specific
programs recommended by NRCS include those for citrus and other agriculture in
the Lake Okeechobee Priority Basins; programs for Indian River Area Citrus Groves;
a nitrogen Best Management Practices program for citrus operations and the Florida
Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP). The determination permits recipients
of cost-share payments to exclude the amounts from their gross income to the extent
allowed by the Internal Revenue Service.
