EPA TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING ON FUMIGANT RISK MITIGATION

Producer participation is encouraged at the upcoming EPA stakeholder meeting June 6 at 9 a.m. at the Harborside Event Center, 1375 Monroe Street in Ft. Myers.

The agency wants to hear what growers have to say regarding proposed risk mitigation options being suggested for all registered fumigant products including all formulations and combinations of methyl bromide, chloropicrin, Telone, Vapam and Dazomet products.

The meeting is an important opportunity to make your beliefs known regarding future restrictions on these fumigant materials, particularly regarding issues such as setbacks associated with bystander exposure and occupational user exposure.

This is the only opportunity to provide face-to-face input on this matter, as EPA is only holding one of these meetings in Florida, one meeting in California and one meeting in the state of Washington. Attendance is encouraged even if you do not plan on speaking formally during the course of the proceedings.
