CHRP MEETINGS SCHEDULED

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, in cooperation with the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) has scheduled two additional information sessions on new guidelines and regulations for the Citrus Health Response Program (CHRP).

The meetings will be held August 1 at the Family Service Center, 310 W. Whidden St., Arcadia, and August 2 at the Highlands County Extension Office, 4509 SE George Blvd. in Sebring.

The workshops will provide information on the new guidelines and regulations for growing and shipping Florida citrus. Agenda will include a CHRP program overview videotape covering nursery requirements, budwood certification, decontamination, survey techniques for greening and canker, and pest/disease management guidelines for citrus diseases.

The event will also offer presentations on disease suppression techniques for the Asian citrus psyllid, citrus greening and citrus canker. Agriculture officials and UF/IFAS staff will be in attendance to answer questions in a panel discussion format.
