ANNUAL CONVENTION TO OFFER IMPORTANT LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

With political, regulatory and other changes rapidly occurring in Florida agriculture, it’s more important than ever to stay on top of the latest issues. With that in mind, FFVA is putting the final touches on a very special roundtable event as well as two educational sessions to be offered at the 64th Annual Convention, Sept. 16-18 at the Boca Raton Resort and Club.

Charting the Food Safety Course in Florida, to be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 18 will feature food safety expert Dr. Martha Roberts as moderator. Invited panelists include experts representing the Florida Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety Division and the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement.

At 11:15 a.m., The Packer’s National Editor Tom Karst will host a live version of Fresh Talk, his daily blog on the produce industry. This informative roundtable session will delve into key industry issues like immigration reform, the farm bill, and food safety. His “guests” will be United Fresh Produce Association President Tom Stenzel, Western Growers President Tom Nassif, Texas Produce Association’s John McClung, and FFVA’s Mike Stuart.

And at 2:15 p.m., following the Annual Awards Luncheon, a third session, Risk Management - The Key Word is Management, will feature panelists who are experts in crop, facilites and financial risk mitigation.
