TWO WATER TRUST FUNDS MAY BE CUT

Two trust funds that help protect the state’s waterways may become victims of the state’s budget shortfall. Three versions of budget reductions proposed by Gov. Crist, the House and the Senate all maintain the Everglades and Florida Forever appropriations from the 2007 regular legislative session. However, the Water Quality Assurance Trust Fund and the Water Protection and Sustainability Trust Fund may be cut.

The budget cuts will be finalized during the upcoming special legislative session, which begins this week.
