ST. JOHNS COUNTY PROPOSES STORMWATER UTILITY FEE

A recent proposal to collect a new stormwater utility fee in St. Johns County has received considerable attention from residents and agricultural landowners in recent weeks. Growers who have not filed a Notice of Intent with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and implemented Best Management Practices would be subject to monthly tax rates ranging from 65 cents to $1.30 per acre. FFVA opposes the tax, which would unfairly burden landowners and set a precedent for other counties to follow.

A public workshop has been scheduled for 5 p.m. Nov. 13 in the St. Johns County Commission Meeting Room in St. Augustine. Growers are strongly encouraged to participate. For further information, please contact the FFVA Government Affairs Office at (850) 521-0455
