IMPORTER RECALLS FRESH BASIL

Los Angeles-based Top Line Specialty Produce is voluntary recalling sets of 12 one-pound boxes of “Green Paradise label” fresh Italian basil, because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella. The recalled product was distributed to food service distributors through direct shipping Dec. 5 in Southern California, Illinois and Texas.

As or Rap-Up deadline, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem. The product came into the country Dec. 5 from the southern Baja California region of Mexico.
