GOV. CRIST SIGNS 2008-09 BUDGET

Gov. Charlie Crist signed Florida’s $66 billion budget into law June 11 for the 2008-09 fiscal year. The good news is that he did not veto a single item in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ or UF-IFAS’s budgets. He also did not veto proviso language limiting the budget cuts that University of Florida President Bernie Machen can make to IFAS’s budget from state funding.

“The 2008-09 General Appropriations Act is a responsible budget which was designed to fund the critical needs of our state, without placing tax burdens on the people,” Gov. Crist said after signing the budget into law.
