FORESTRY DIVISION APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on June 6 announced the appointment of Jim Karels as director and David Core as assistant director of the Division of Forestry. Karel’s appointment became effective May 30 and Core’s on June 13.

A 23-year veteran of the division, Karels served most recently as assistant director, and also in wildland fire management, cooperative forestry assistance, tree nursery management and state lands management.

Core has been with the Division of Forestry for 22 years in many positions including deputy chief of Field Operations, Forest Management Bureau chief and most recently as the Field Operations Bureau chief.
