ISSUE 1224

FARM BILL PROCESS FINALLY COMPLETE

The U.S. Senate voted 80 to 14 June 19 to override Pres. Bush’s veto of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008.

The House of Representatives earlier voted 317 to 109 to override the measure.

Due to a clerical error, a title that addressed trade was not included in the version of the bill that the president vetoed in May.

In an effort to make the bill complete, Congress passed a second version (H.R. 6124) that included all 15 titles, which is the legislation the president just vetoed.
