IMPROVED OPERATION CLEANSWEEP IS WORKING FOR GROWERS AGAIN

Growers who wish to take advantage of Operation Cleansweep in its 2008-2009 season are encouraged to call early to sign up for the project, which offers a safe, convenient and free mechanism for agricultural operations, golf courses and pest control companies to properly dispose of canceled, suspended and unusable crop protection chemicals.

It is anticipated that the program this year will again be a popular one, and Cleansweep has enough monetary backing to support this valuable service probably through about June.

In a recent improvement, participants need no longer drop off unwanted materials at collection sites. For the sake of safety and efficiency, a contractor will now come to the participant’s facility and package, transport and dispose of the unwanted materials.

The program has now collected and disposed of nearly 1,300,000 pounds of these unwanted materials. Collections have been made from nearly 1,800 participants in 65 Florida counties.

Details and instructions on how to signup for this free pickup service are available by calling (877) 851-5285.
