USDA PLANS TO BUY 3.6 MILLION POUNDS OF TOMATOES

The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service announced Sept. 18 that is purchasing up to 3.6 million pounds of fresh tomatoes with Farm Bill funds. The tomatoes will be donated to child nutrition and other domestic food assistance programs. AMS will award contracts for the desired quantity to responsible bidders.
