FRANK JOHNS RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD AT FFVA CONVENTION

More than 260 people took advantage of learning and networking opportunities at FFVA’s 65th Annual Convention Sept. 21-23 at the Ritz-Carlton Naples.

Highlights included presentation of awards including the Distinguished Service Award, which Past-Chairman Jay Taylor gave to Frank Johns for his many years of unselfish service to the industry and to his community.

The Annual Benefit Auction raised $10,590, which, added to $30,200 raised by the “Above and Beyond Club,” brought the total raised to $40,790 before deduction of credit card fees and other expenses.

Participants enjoyed keynote speaker Howard Fineman’s assessment of the political and economic climate of the country and asked the Newsweek columnist pointed questions following his presentation at the annual Cracker Breakfast.

Educational sessions on sustainability, traceability and immigration covered the latest on those issues.

Attendees also took a break from business at the Florida Specialty Crop Foundation’s Annual Golf Tournament or out on the water pulling in a big catch at the convention’s fishing excursion. Coming in first place at the golf tournament was the team of Mike Prescott, Heath Prescott, Jim Mercer and Jerry Newlin.

FFVA thanks its valued convention sponsors and attendees for helping to make the event a success, and we look forward to seeing you next year at The Breakers in Palm Beach.
