“The Well-Dressed Tomato” featured in the August 6 issue
of LOOK magazine is a Florida tomato, according to Jack Peters,
FFVA’s Membership Division manager.
“Back around the first of April, the association received a
telephone call from Miss Marilyn Kaytor, food editor of the magazine,
requesting a shipment of Florida tomatoes for illustrations. We
arranged the shipment and received a prompt acknowledgment.
“Just last week we received a second letter from Miss Kaytor
telling us that our Florida tomatoes finally were printed.
The handsome full-page photograph of fresh tomatoes on page 56 does
justice to Florida’s best,” said
Peters.

Open the Aug. 6, 1957 LOOK magazine to page 56 and you'll find
Florida tomatoes illustrating a feature article about cooking with
tomatoes. It begins by comparing the tomato to a beautiful woman:
"It is voluptuous, sensitive, easily spoiled, and like a beautiful
woman, it improves any company it joins," the article says.
