DuPont Crop Protection Donates $30,000 to Research & Education Foundation

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 28, 2005 - DuPont Crop Protection solidified its commitment to the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Research & Education Foundation by donating $30,000 as part of its "Partners in Production" program. The contribution was made during the association's 62nd annual convention on Sept. 28 in Orlando.

"Our growers know that to remain profitable they need Florida-specific research that keeps them competitive," said Frank Johns, Florida Fruit & Vegetable Research & Education Foundation chairman. "It is gratifying to know that DuPont Crop Protection is a dedicated partner in our efforts to produce the highest quality crops at the lowest possible costs."

The contribution continues the Griffin L.L.C. tradition of sponsoring the program, which began in 1995. To date, donations to the foundation have exceeded $300,000 based on sales of crop protection products from Griffin and DuPont.

"The cornerstone of DuPont is research, and we're proud to renew the tradition set forth by Griffin of supporting these industry efforts," said Som Somasundaram, DuPont Crop Protection Area Sales Manager. "We also hope that growers take pride in and realize the value of the contributions they indirectly make toward a great cause."

Notable foundation programs that have been funded through the years include relief for farm workers hit by hurricanes, methyl bromide alternatives research, disease management programs, grower education, youth education, specialty crop promotion and consumer education programs.

The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Research & Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation. The foundation was created to support research needs in the areas of protecting the environment, pest management solutions, and technological advances. Additionally, the foundation supports educational opportunities for children of farm workers through organizations such as the Redlands Christian Migrant Association, which serves migrant farm families, and youth groups such as 4-H and the National FFA Organization. Contributions to the foundation are tax deductible.
