FFVA 2007 CONVENTION

A PIT BULL COMES TO BREAKFAST

Keynote speaker Larry Winget mixes humor and straight-on advice at the Annual Cracker Breakfast

Author, speaker and TV personality Larry Winget started his professional life as a sales manager and trainer for AT&T in Oklahoma. When he decided to become a motivational speaker, things got interesting.

In 1999, Winget made some changes. Call it a midlife crisis: "I didn't own my life, any of it," he says. "I would step on stage, and the people who hired me were in charge of my life. I would come home, and my manager and staff were in charge of my life. When they all went home, Rose Mary [his wife] would come home, and then she was in charge of my life," he told the Arizona Republic.

So Winget went to the desert town of Sedona to figure things out. Three weeks later, he told Rose Mary that he was ready for some changes. He wanted the two of them to move to Arizona. He already was a motivational speaker, but he became more true to himself and changed his style.

You'll recognize keynote speaker Larry Winget by his unique personal style.

Now Winget is known as the “Pit Bull of Personal Development,” and he’s coming to breakfast. He is the keynote speaker at this year’s Cracker Breakfast at FFVA’s 64th Annual Convention. And it promises to be a real wake-up call.

Winget has written two well-received books with titles you won’t forget. Shut Up, Stop Whining & Get a Life teaches universal principles that can work for anyone. His second book, It’s Called Work for a Reason! breaks all the traditional rules for getting ahead in business and drives home the point that “your success is your own damn fault.”

Winget also hosts an in-your-face TV reality show about taking control of personal finances on the A&E network called “Big Spender.”

The message isn’t the only thing bold about Larry Winget. If you see him in the hallways during the convention, you’ll recognize him immediately. After the Sedona episode, he chucked his suits and now wears bold, bright western shirts every day along with a pair of his 100-plus cowboy boots that he designed himself.

Between his bold, blunt talk and his personal style, he’s the kind of speaker who will make you put down your coffee cup and pay attention. Frankly, you won’t need caffeine when Winget is in the room. Join us Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 a.m. at the Boca Raton Club and Resort.
