TRADE ASSOCIATE UPDATE

TWC DISTRIBUTORS - HELPING GROWERS HELP THEMSELVES AND THE ENVIRONMENT

FFVA Trade Associate Member TWC Distributors is a wholesale distributor of professional agricultural and landscape irrigation products. The company was established in 1989 by Kevin, Tim and Wayne Milligan to serve the agricultural industry, and has expanded into the turf industry providing products such as pumps, well equipment, sprinklers and landscape lighting. TWC also recently ventured into the sump and sewage market.

A fast-growing company, TWC boasts nine warehouse facilities dedicated to the distribution of products and services in southwestern and central Florida. A tenth facility is currently under construction, and the company plans to expand to northern Florida as well as to the state's east coast.

The three brothers are equal partners, each specializing in a separate area of the business. Kevin Milligan is director of the Agricultural division, Tim handles the Turf division and Wayne oversees the financial and accounting departments.

TWC Distributors sells irrigation equipment to agribusinesses, the turf industry and has recently ventured into the sump and sewage market.

The company’s Agricultural Division focuses on challenges the growers face. "Anything that is harvested falls into that division," said Kevin Milligan. "We deal with growers of row crops, citrus, blueberries, tree farms, fish farms and strawberries. The company offers complete irrigation systems design including drip, micro, drainage and frost protection systems," Milligan said. Pumps, engines, fertilizer injection products and preventive maintenance solutions are all available through TWC.

One part of the business Kevin Milligan is especially proud of is TWC's promotion of Water Management and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) programs. Milligan and his staff help growers with government-funded programs like one called “Farms” that promotes use of tail water recovery systems and surface water in lieu of groundwater consumption. “What the Farms program does is form a partnership between the NRCS, the water districts and the grower," said Milligan. "The idea is to use funded programs to help growers with both tail water recovery and over-pumping of wells. Everybody wins with this kind of a program."
