The Annual Awards Luncheon enjoyed a great turnout.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Syngenta's Sean Knapp presents the Syngenta Scholarship to Derek Orsenigo.

 

The Florida Specialty Crop Foundation presented its first George F. Sorn Scholarship to Nanci Palacios, a graduate of Durant High School in Plant City. The scholarship is named after George Sorn, (left) a respected industry veteran who has dedicated himself to improving the lives of Florida’s farmworkers and their children. FFVA Chairman Jay Taylor is shown at right.

 

FFVA honored Rep. Mary Brandenburg, D-Lake Worth, (above with FFVA Governmental Affairs Director Butch Calhoun) as its Ag Partner of the Year. Florida State Sen. Mike Bennett, R-Bradenton, and Rep. Baxter Troutman, R-Winter Haven, received FFVA's Legislator of the Year Awards.

 

FFVA presented its Merchandiser of the Year Award to Costco Wholesale Corporation of Issaquah, Wash. Accepting the award is Frank Padilla, assistant vice president and general merchandise manager of fresh foods.

 

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson emphasized the need for legal foreign workers at the Annual Awards Luncheon.
