SYMPOSIUM TO ADDRESS MANAGEMENT OF WEATHER RISKS

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and the Southeast Climate Consortium will host a symposium addressing ways to manage climate risks to agriculture and natural resources.

Climate Information for Managing Risks: Partnerships and Solutions for Agriculture and Natural Resources will be held June 10-13 at the TradeWinds Island Resort in St. Petersburg Beach.

Gale Buchanan, USDA Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics, will serve as opening speaker.

The Southeast Climate Consortium, or SECC, is a coalition of six universities - Florida State University, University of Florida, University of Miami, University of Georgia, Auburn University, and University of Alabama-Huntsville. Its mission is to use advances in climate sciences to provide scientifically sound information and decision support tools for agriculture, forestry, and water resources management in the Southeastern USA.
